NHS 70th birthday celebrations and fundraising

On 9th June Folkestone and Hythe Constituency Labour Party joined in with the Folkestone Park Run to raise awareness and funds in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the formulation of the NHS.

Next in its series of events is a celebratory party, which is being held at The Grand Burstin Hotel on Saturday 21st July, organised by Town Councillor Jackie Meade and 2017 General Election candidate Laura Davison.

Jackie Meade said ‘We have the amazing multi-intrumentalist and singer-songwriter Rodney Branigan playing in the evening, and there will be other entertainment and activities for families during the weekend.’

Doors open for the evening in the Ballroom from 7pm with Rodney appearing at 9.20 pm. There is a suggested donation on the door of £3 and all profits will go to the RCN Foundation, a nurses’ benevolent fund.

Laura Davison said ‘it is important to celebrate the fantastic NHS that we have had for the last 70 years – the envy of many other countries – and to continue to work to ensure that it is still here in another 70 years and beyond’.
