Lydd Airport Covid Jabs

No Fly Zone for health says Tony

Coronavirus: Facebook, Twitter and YouTube 'fail to tackle anti-vaccination posts' - BBC News

Bizarrely, health authorities have been suggesting Lydd Airport as a vaccination centre for those in the Romney Marsh area. This would involve those without cars in a lengthy bus journey and a walk of almost a mile from the perimeter road to the airport buildings.

Tony Cooper is our Vice Chair (Campaigns) and Branch Secretary for Romney Marsh. He also happens to be the Chair of the local branch of the British Lung Foundation Breathe Easy support group for those with respiratory illnesses.

Tony made a powerful case for a rethink on provision at this out-of-the-way airport and the need to use local community venues instead – live on BBC Radio Kent today. The BBC has promised to keep on top of this story…

Tony said:

This is unacceptable as vaccination provision for all those with no transport – and it could be particularly dangerous for those who are supposed to be shielding or with health issues, such as respiratory diseases.
I am calling on the KCC Director for Public Health, Andrew Scott-Clark, to intervene, look at better alternatives and provide clarity as a matter of urgency.

Listen here to Tony’s contribution on BBC Kent – and please consider adding your voice to the call for this to be reconsidered urgently.
