Letter to Roger De Haan from Laura Davison and the CLP

Dear Roger De Haan,
Excuse the note in haste; it is an emergency time for our town. Many people are facing the
prospect of severe hardship or complete inability to pay basic things like rent, to keep a roof over
their heads and their businesses. As a self proclaimed champion of the town we are asking you
as landlord of our Creative Quarter to apply a rent holiday for our businesses, artists and creators
who do so much to keep us entertained, inspired and to bring us together as a community all
year round. We have seen mortgage owners offered a three month mortgage payment holiday.
We have also seen Folkestone town council’s decision not to charge rent as landlord to the Silver
Screen cinema at this time. Will you follow suit at this time when solidarity is so crucial?
Yours sincerely,
Laura Davison
Folkestone Central ward, district councillor.
