Cllr Laura Davison
Our prospective Labour Candidate
for Folkestone West Division in the May 2021 KCC Elections

We urgently need Labour voices speaking up for our district within Kent County Council. Sadly some of the current County Councillors just aren’t visible in the way they should be.
Since being elected to the Folkestone and Hythe District Council as part of a Labour team in 2019, I’ve been a proactive and responsive councillor and have really tried to help people who have contacted me.
In that time the Labour group has made a difference, emphasising the importance of council housing; opposing the Otterpool development, and speaking up for proper consultation and transparency for the local community.
I have stood twice as a general election candidate and worked extremely hard, significantly improving the Labour vote in our constituency.
I live in Folkestone and work as a trade union organiser; I see all the time that there is nothing as powerful as people coming together to change things for the better – whether on the climate crisis or food poverty. The Covid crisis has shown that we need that more than ever.
My priorities are to work towards change that really deals with inequality and to show the wards I represent the love that they deserve – whether that’s by spotting holes in the road or benches that need repairing or doing litter picks. We live in a beautiful place, let’s make it a fair and a cared-for one too.
