Inspiring Kent Labour Women Event

To celebrate International Women’s Day, Kent Constituency Labour Parties worked together to organise the “Inspiring Kent Labour Women” Event in Thannington, on Saturday 10th March.

More than fifteen women members of Folkestone and Hythe Constituency Labour Party attended the event and heard inspiring speakers including Frances Scott from 50:50 Parliament, and Rosie Duffield MP.

Laura Davison (Folkestone and Hythe’s Labour Candidate in the 2017 General Election) and Aisling Dundon, co-women’s officers for the Folkestone and Hythe CLP said:

“We organised this event with fellow Kent Labour Women to celebrate International Women’s Day, learn new campaigning skills and network together. There are so many women doing such great work in all areas of our society, and events like this are essential to empower and support women to take on roles in local and national politics, to improve representation and redress the current gender imbalance in politics.”

Since attending the event, members of Folkestone and Hythe CLP have signed up to become ambassadors the 50:50 Parliament Project, to support the #AskHerToStand campaign, which aims to achieve better gender balance in Parliament.  Find out more about the 50:50 parliament campaign here:
